Conferences – no longer a thing of the past

Author: Amy Adams

You won’t be the only business leader to have put your conference plans on hold in 2020. Most businesses delayed ‘temporarily’, with buoyant optimism that they would go ahead at the end of the year. But now, nearing a year on, we have to come to terms that in-person conferences will still not go ahead as we’d hoped, and we mustn’t underestimate the impact of delaying them for yet another year. Now is the time to start planning your 2021 virtual ‘hybrid’ conference.

It won’t be the same, but it can still inspire

Every year we look forward to our annual company conferences, the perfect opportunity to take everyone out of the office, launch a strategy, share business updates, recognise success, connect people, give them hope and let’s be frank – have some fun whilst doing it. A virtual conference won’t be the same as usual, but it can still be just as inspiring and compelling, start with the end in mind and make sure you leave a lasting impression.

Risk free

Going virtual is risk free, most importantly your people will be safe and comfortable in their own environment. Our experience shows that you can create some seriously engaging and compelling content that can help to reenergise and refocus your people. You can repurpose content such as video or animation to use for recruitment, attraction, retention and onboarding, linking it to key themes and strategies.

Don’t delay

We can’t continue to delay the opportunity to share business updates, best practice and refresh comms. This can still be done, albeit virtually, and your 2021 conference is the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together and recognise the brilliant work that’s been done, press pause and reset.

Your 2021 conference will be based all over the country, in someone’s front room, at the dining room table or home office, and, with the right objectives and careful planning, it can still have the same, if not, better impact than your last in-person conference.
