We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our team, Mat! After only a few weeks working in our studio, Mat is already a firm favourite around these parts, not least because he makes so many cups of tea. I asked him some very important questions to help you get to know him.
So Mat, where are you from?
I grew up in London, Belvedere in the South East to be more precise.
What have you been doing with your life up to now?
I left London at 17 to start a National Diploma in Graphic Design in Plymouth and went on to do my degree there too. I then lived in the South West for a while before moving back to London. I worked freelance for a couple of years both for my own clients and within agencies and then moved to an events and exhibitions company where I worked on big events across the globe. I got to travel for some of those too which was great. More recently, I moved to start my next chapter with Bristol and of course DNA and I’m loving both.
Any exciting hobbies/interests?
I wish I could say I was really into something like snowboarding or falconry, but really I’m not all that interesting.
I’m a bit of a foodie and like trying new places as well as cooking whenever I can. I’m also becoming more and more of a beer snob as I get older and I’m always looking for interesting/new ones to drink. The days of drinking cheap lager are well and truly gone.
Your house is burning down! Which three items do you save?
My laptop, artwork and drinks globe* (and its contents).
Most importantly, what’s your favourite cheese?
Brie, every time.
*It’s worth noting that I didn’t know what a drinks globe was so had to Google it and now I don't understand why I don't own one.
