Aldermore are a British bank unbound by tradition who set out in 2009, to build the future of banking. Ten years on and they have grown in leaps and bounds. In any organisation - and especially one with such growth - comes the need to unite them in a common purpose, reinforce the ongoing journey and recognise the hard work of all their employees.
Engagement can be defined as employees’ willingness and ability to contribute to company success. So in Aldermore’s case, with such success needed to come high engagement. Following a research piece with key stakeholders within the organisation, DNA identified the areas where a little more help was needed and we set about developing an calendar of employee engagement activity with some clear goals; reduce attrition, increase engagement and employee advocacy, improve managers' skills, and ensure greater well being.
Together, we developed a selection of engagement vehicles, within various levels of the business focusing on their particular requirements and objectives. From refreshing their EAP and recognition schemes, launching a pedometer challenge to support teamwork and wellbeing, to organising strawberries and cream in June, Easter eggs and Christmas crackers. We also ran a 3 monthly 'Mind, Body and Soul' programme - again to promote wellbeing and engagement. It's needless to say it’s been a varied scheme. Aside from the more practical projects, we have also helped Managers with a toolkit designed to develop their own approach to engagement and give them the support and tools to acknowledge great work, and create a true culture of recognition.
Aldermore continue to go from strength to strength in what is a very competitive market. Working in conjunction with the whole of the HR team, so from talent attraction right through to learning and development, we have been able to take a holistic view of the company and this programme. And, it is safe to say that the little things really do make a big difference.
