Internal Social Network Active Nation

In a nutshell

We developed a private social network for a disparate group of employees to engage with each other, share experiences and be inspired by the business leader. 

The challenge

Active Nation is a charity that runs numerous leisure centre sites around the UK. They wanted a way of employees communicating and sharing experiences and also a platform for their leader to share information and inspire his colleagues to help the nation get active. 

The solution

We developed a private social network, accessed by invitation only and password protected. Rather like an internal Facebook, the site includes features such as user profiles, a recognition wall, groups, events, videos, live chat, suggestions, forum and internal jobs board. All employees are invited to join and create their own profile and generate content for the site. It's centrally administered internally with full control given to the team to moderate and make changes. The site's content is predominantly user generated so the employees add value by getting involved. 

The outcome

More people join everyday and the site is used well for sharing best practice at each centre and giving well deserved recognition to colleagues. As a user himself, the leader of the business can be as visible as he likes by generating his own content and sharing it e.g. status updates and videos. The site has around 1,500 visits per month with an average visit length of over four minutes.
